Highbury House Extension Complete
November 26th, 2008 by Russell Curtis
RCKa’s extension to a large Victorian townhouse in Highbury has been completed on site. The project provides a new kitchen and dining area at the back of the property, and involved dropping the floor of the rear part of the house nearly a metre in order to provide a continuous floor level.
A new kitchen runs the length of the house with a dramatic horizontal veneer of Red Gum from Spa Laminates (www.spalaminates.com) along its length. The full-height glazed rear elevation opens onto a higher-level garden, with steps formed from the same granite finish as the kitchen worktop, which acts as a single plane which wraps around the side and rear of the internal space.
