Maida Vale extension nearing completion

Our extension to a garden apartment in Maida Vale is nearing completion. The sedum roof has now been installed, and the triangular corner window has been fitted. This gently sloping rooflight, in the corner of the new living room, allows natural light down into the space and provides views up to the tree canopy above.

The project is due for completion in September 2009.

Site progress at Elgin Avenue

Work is progressing well at Elgin Avenue, our extension and refurbishment of a large garden flat opposite Maida Vale tube station.

The concrete retaining wall which runs all the way along one boundary is now complete, and the concrete ground slab will shortly be installed. Primary steelwork is in, and internal partitions have been erected inside the existing flat.

The scheme will eventually provide a large living room, utility room, with an internal reconfiguration adding a new kitchen, dining room, larger bedrooms and family bathroom.

The stealth extension

Our extension to a flat in Highgate is finished, as the last pieces of glass are put in place.

We’ve used a highly-reflective glass to create an extension which is almost invisible from the garden. The glass is silicone-bonded to remove the need for a frame, which results in an almost unbroken reflection of the garden when viewed from the rear. Even the sliding doors have been fitted with the same glass so that when closed, the extension appears as a seamless reflective box.

At night, the same reflective glass acts as a mirror which increases the sense of space within the kitchen and dining room.

Work begins on Maida Vale extension

Work has now begun on our extension to a property in Maida Vale, north-west London.
The scheme involves the construction of a large side extension, 3m below street level, which requires a large concrete retaining wall running the entire length of the property. The new extension will provide additional living space and entrance lobby, and improved access to the property through a new sunken courtyard. A new sedum roof will provide visual amenity for the properties on the upper floors.
As part of the works we will be reconfiguring and refurbishing the interior of the existing flat.

The project is due for completion in August 2009. The main contractor for the works is Acumen Building Contracts, who have recently completed our Highgate extension.

Highgate extension Kitchen completed

The house extension in Highgate is nearing completion and the bespoke kitchen is now installed complete with Ruby Terrazzo worktops, matching glass splashbacks and handle free doors.

Full-height bookcase with hidden door

Our extension and refurbishment of a garden flat in Highgate is progressing well, as some of the built-in furniture and specialist joinery starts to arrive on site.

These works include a full-height pivoting bookcase, operated by a pneumatic floorspring, which opens to reveal a secret entrance to the master bedroom. The pictures here show the bookcase in both the open and shut postions.

Highgate extension takes shape

Primary structure has been erected at Jackson’s Lane and the extension is beginning to take its idiosyncratic form.
